Phillies are winning despite lack of runs
Phillies have a few problems this year. They can not hit as they used to do in the past, which has shown on the games scores the entire year. as I compared 2010 to 2011 numbers I noticed that in 2010 the Phillies averaged 4.76 RBI per game and 1.02 HR per game, so far in 2011 their average dropped to 4.04 RBI per game and .78 HR per game.
On the other hand their pitching has gotten better. The team with its 4 Aceses have done a great job in winning games. In comparison between 2010 and 2011 numbers I noticed that Earned Run Average for 2010 is 3.66 and about 3.95 Runs per game. while so far in 2011 the Earned Run Average is 3.15 and about 3.40 runs per game.
From what i have noticed the batting averages have dropped while the pitching averages has gotten considerably better. The pitching has gotten better because the team have 4 Aces Halladay, Lee, Oswalt, and Hamels. What I wonder is why has the batting goten\worse?. Are the players relying too much on pitching to win the game for them or are they getting too old?

The Player the Eagles are rumored to aqcuire
We have all heard the rumors of the Eagles signing this player and that player when the lock out is over, let examine the player that the rumors named since the end of the regular season, which consequently the one Eagles fans want the most.
Rumors have been flying around the National Football League about the players the Eagles would pursue in free agency to upgrade their defense. Nnamdi Asomugha a cornerback that is set to be a free agent who played for the Oakland Raiders is the first name to always come up . Deemed to be one of the best cornerback in the league, feared by all Quarterbacks. He's one of the few shut down corners in the league last season his side was only targeted 33 times in 14 games and only 13 completions for 205 yards, which means he allowed only 14.6 yards a game. If the eagles can sign Asomugha to play opposite of Asante Samuel the Eagles would have the most feared cornerbacks in the league. The Eagles have a big chance to sign him, he wants to win after spending those years with the Raiders and the Eagles can afford him.
I think if the Eagles want to win, and win now which is apparent by the fact that they signed Michael Vick and would be willing to release the younger Kevin Kolb they should sign Asomugha. It would bring an instant upgrade to the defensive backs and the defense as a whole. The defense would take a great leap forward and the team would be able to win games with out the offense having to put up big numbers on the board.

Welcome to my Blog
I'm starting this blog for my ENG 320 class. I'm a first time blogger, so i'll keep it simple. I plan to blog about philly sports as a whole, Eagles if the NFL decided to have a season this year (fingers crossed), Phillies, and the Flyers. I don't really follow Basketball so i won't even attempt to discuss that.
